The Experimental Aircraft Association is an international organization encouraging and supporting recreational aviation. Experimental refers to a category of aircraft built by craftsmen rather than in a factory. Aircraft in this category are inspected and certified airworthy by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The EAA young Eagles program was organized in 1992 to give interested young people an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. More than 1.7 million “Young Eagles” have enjoyed a flight through the program, flown by over 41,000 volunteer pilots.
