Belmond EMS Open House & Fundraising Dinner

Belmond EMS Open House & Fundraising Dinner

To celebrate National Emergency Medical Services Week, the Belmond Ambulance Service will be holding an open house and dinner.  The event will be on Sunday, May 26th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Ambulance Shed located at 308 1st Street NE.  The dinner is a free-will donation and will include scalloped potatoes with ham, roll, dessert and a drink.  In addition, ambulance rides will be offered.

All proceeds will be used to purchase a third power stretcher cot, which is approximately $12,000.  Power stretchers raise and lower on a hydraulic system that allows for speed and additional safety for patients.  It also helps to protect EMS crew members from lifting injuries.  A third stretcher is needed for when the others are in use on emergency calls or transfers between hospitals.

Last year, the Belmond Ambulance Service responded to over 459 calls, an increase of 62 calls from 2010 and 94 calls from 2011. They have also recently had a record month 52 calls in April 2013.  Services include, but are not limited to, responding to 911 calls, assisting other emergency responders such as fire fighters, transferring patients to other hospital facilities, and providing coverage at sporting and other community events.

Come out on Sunday, May 26th to support your local EMS.  Your contribution makes a difference in keeping our community safe.
